Research Technician Formulation Development

The position

The department Product Characterization & Formulation (PCF) focuses on the development of analytical methods and stable formulations for vaccine concepts. The quality, efficacy and safety of these vaccine candidates are evaluated in preclinical and clinical studies for which biochemical and immunological techniques are used.

 

To strengthen the Formulation Development group within the PCF department, we are looking for a full-time research technician. In this function, you play a central role in the design and development of stabile vaccine products that can be safely administered to humans. Key activities include:

 

  • Performing formulation development studies according to plan and coordination of the logistics that come with these studies.
  • Analytical support on immunochemical, immunological and molecular assays that are used to analyze samples of these formulation development studies. Analytical techniques include UV spectroscopy, DLS, ELISA, qPCR.
  • Supervision and management of PCF laboratories and equipment
  • Writing work plans and standard operating procedures
  • Writing of study plans, analyzing research data and drafting reports are optional.

 

Your profile

You are an enthusiastic research technician with a high sense of responsibility, who can work independently but also in a team. You are willing to serve the vaccine development projects by delivering project tasks within time. You will be part of the Formulation Development team, and together we will become a strong expertise group within the PCF department.

 

Requirements

  • Completed education (HBO BSc or university BSc) in the field of pharmacy, life sciences, biology, medical biology, biochemistry or biotechnology
  • Relevant research experience with a strong biochemical and immunological background of at least 2 years
  • Experience in formulation development is an advantage
  • Experience with lyophilization is an advantage.
  • Experience in working in a BSL 2 laboratory is an advantage
  • Familiar with GMP regulations in the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage
  • Proficient in written and oral English (research plans and reports) is a must.

The role will be a one-year contract with outlook for permanent position (or internal relocation). We offer a good salary dependent on education and experience, including 8% holiday allowance and an additional 8.3 % End of Year payment.
